**Camilla Burrows sings the Ella Fitzgerald + Oscar Peterson Songbook**

  

Once dubbed the “First Lady of Song”, jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald is one of the all time greats, revered for her beautiful voice, impeccable delivery of lyrics and incredible improvisations. Her most well known recordings feature her fronting big bands and jazz orchestras, the richness and power of those large ensembles perfectly complementing her voice, or leading the Ella Fitzgerald Quartet through high-octane club gigs. However, throughout her career she also recorded a series of intimate duet albums, stripping things back to just her voice and a piano accompanist. Melbourne based duo Camilla Burrows and Caleb Wilson shine the spotlight on these classic but underrated duet recordings, recreating Ella’s songs with the warmth and humour that is shared between two long time friends and collaborators.

  

Camilla Burrows is a 21 year-old emerging Naarm/Melbourne based jazz and contemporary vocalist. Enchanting and poetic, her repertoire of jazz standards, folk songs and original compositions explores her unique resonance. Her authentic, emotional expression exceeds her years.

Caleb Wilson is a pianist and composer of note in the Melbourne jazz scene. A flawless technician and a keen musical mind rolled into one, Caleb is both a historian of the jazz piano tradition and an innovator, receiving praise for his work in the classic jazz piano trio format, where he recalls the sounds of legends such as Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson, as well as the contemporary modern jazz space, where his compositions have won multiple awards and accolades.
