Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers Album Launch

Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers have just released their second 10-track blues album ‘The Devil’s Voodoo Curse’ for their performances at the Echuca-Moama Winter Blues Festival. Expanding on half-time feels to include rumba and shuffles plus Hammond features with Clarinet into their unique texture. They deliver old-school tunes mixed with upbeat originals, telling stories from another time that still ring since their debut 10-track album ‘Blues For Minnie’ receiving validating reviews. "****They have a solid sound, they are tight as they give the listener an old-time sounding set of tunes done up with a fresh perspective.” Blues Blast Magazine Senior writer Steve Jones, president of the Crossroads Blues Society USA
Drawing from the great delta blues tradition of powerful blueswomen, Kaliopi & the Blues Messengers launched their debut single 'When the Levee Breaks' in December 2022 dedicated to the people of Northern Rivers and Lismore floods, followed with their single. 'Troublin' Blues' in March 2023 (both with official videos).

Their new album continues to resonate with similar themes and metaphors selected for their debut yet expands by building on the fresh perspective through engaging live performances. The band perform current social context enhancing their unique texture cradling Kaliopi's soulful vocals.

New Orleans-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Sean Riley makes record-worthy music anywhere he goes; in the clubs, in the studio, on the streets, and even in his living room. His music is deep delta blues rock in equal parts, conjuring the delta blues spirit of Bukka White, Muddy Waters, and New Orleans blues greats Snooks Eaglin and Slim Harpo. Riley’s songs speaks to love, loss, and missteps. Riley has toured internationally and plays weekly in New Orleans. He attributes his love for the Crescent City for providing him with the motivation to create new music as well as honor the rich culture of the city. “The musicians and people of New Orleans are a major inspiration for me every day,” says Riley. Sean Riley plays solo and with his backing band The Water, aptly named for the fluidity of different musicians joining him on stage.
