Formed in 2018, **Gilsons** isn’t your average family band.  
  
**The trio, representing two generations of one of Brazil's most legendary families, balance original music with an homage to the music of Gilberto Gil, their father (José) and grandfather (Francisco, João)**.  
  
Known far and wide as one of the progenitors of the countercultural and widely popular tropicália movement, Gilberto remains one of the biggest names in Música Popular Brasileira.

Though a seemingly impossible task, Gilsons builds upon the Gil family musical lineage with their blend of pop rock, samba, reggae, and Bahian (northeastern Brazil) rhythms. 

The band's debut album, _Pra Gente Acordar,_ earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese Language, and they’ve taken to the stages of many of Brazil’s major festivals – including Lollapalooza Brazil, and, alongside another national musical icon, Jorge Aragão, for over 100,000 people, at the Rock in Rio festival.
