The seeds of Marilyn Maria were planted in a garage in Eora/Sydney's Inner West at the beginning of 2020, where the sudden onset of nationwide lockdowns acted as a creative pressure cooker on the band's shared and sometimes opposing influences; emerging from their sweaty, corrugated iron incubator as a theatrical, multi genre pub-rock  
hydra.  
  
After accumulating a year's worth of unspent energy, the band burst on to the Sydney live circuit in 2021, and quickly gained a reputation as one of Sydney's must-see live acts. Favouring a DIY approach, the band has independently recorded and released two four-track EPs and three singles that traverse a range of sonic palettes: from the self affirming alt-country ballad 'Love Yourself', to politically charged garage with ‘Watching America’, and danceable nu-wave punk track ‘Self Help Tape.’  
  
With no chance of slowing up, the new year will see the band take its unique brand of oddball noise to a wider audience.

Hannah Kate is an indie rock outfit based in Naarm/Melbourne fronted by powerhouse Hannah Wales and backed by Alice Shannon, Eddie Knight and Samuel Drew-Rumoro. Over the past 6 years Hannah Kate have earned themselves a reputation for their raucous live shows and their intelligent brand of rock and roll. They’ve attracted a diverse audience with frontwoman Hannah’s exciting songwriting ability, her sense of humour and DIY attitude. Over the years Hannah and her band have been seen gigging all around Naarm supporting local heavyweights Ali Barter, Bad//Dreems, Lime Cordiale and Gut Health as well as winning the public vote to play the new music stage at St Kilda Festival for their 40th Anniversary event.   
  
This year the band released a run of stand out singles in the lead up to their highly anticipated debut album slated for release early 2026. The first single of the batch, ‘Test Run’, featured in Rolling Stone’s Best Australian Music of the week, while the sophomore release ‘End of the Day’ landed Hannah a feature spot on RAGE as their ‘Wild One’. The bands’ latest offering, ‘Eggs in a Kettle’ (Eggs) shifts the tone from past releases of existential wondering to that of a much more personal breakup story, all whilst artfully maintaining the relatability Hannah’s lyricism has her known for. A classic tale of first love gone south both figuratively and literally, Hannah’s latest release takes the listener on a rather visceral journey back to both their first love and heartbreak, and also to an Air BnB in Tasmania that came without a kitchen.  
  
Having won the hearts of many with her authenticity and wit both on stage and off, Hannah’s energy continues to earn her fans who make it clear they’re in for the long haul, it seems there’s something in the air around Hannah and her band but this time it’s pushing them further than they’ve ever been before.
