**In a world-premiere event, experience the complete sonatas of Douglas Weiland along with a newly composed work on Ukrainian folk themes.**

Douglas Weiland is the late Sir Neville Marriner's most-commissioned composer and has been hailed in the international press for his "music of palpable humanity and profound vision." In 1985 he became one of the founding members of the Australian String Quartet and has since been a major contributor to Australian music.

Internationally acclaimed Melbourne musicians Markiyan Melnychenko (violin) and Rhodri Clarke (piano) present Weiland's violin sonatas, a world-premiere complete performance of these works with the composer in attendance. In addition to this captivating music, this concert will see the world premiere of a newly-written work based on Ukrainian folk themes, written by Weiland for Melnychenko and performed in solidarity with the beleaguered Ukrainian people.

This will be a unique opportunity to discover unknown music of great artistic value, whose composer has played a special role in the history of Australian music.
