It’s been a long time coming but it will be worth the wait: The Johnnys are re-emerging from a round of studio tinkerin’ and drinkin’ for a run of gigs in May, brandishing a live CD and a refreshed set.   
   
“Live In Lyon” is the album, and it captures a rollicking 1990 French gig by the Hoody, Billy, Slim and Spencer P Jones line-up on their only European tour. Restored from the original tape by Rick O’Neill, it’s brimming with plenty of Saucisson, Vin Rouge and bawdy cowpunk rock and roll.   
   
To mark the occasion, The Johnnys are playing their northside Melbourne launch at The Tote with Penny Ikinger’s Marbles and Vibrajets on Saturday, May 31.
