Remco Keijzer Hammond Band
Following a successful national tour and a brief but memorable stint in the theatre, Remco Keijzer returns to the Paris Cat Jazz Club with his renowned Hammond group. This band has been performing together for years, gracing stages at numerous residencies and festivals. Their sound is deeply rooted in the classic tradition of Blue Note jazz, infused with the infectious funk grooves of the 1950s and ’60s, drawing inspiration from legends like Eddie Harris, Jimmy Smith, and The Meters, as well as more contemporary icons such as John Scofield, Soulive, and Joshua Redman.
Tonight, the Remco Keijzer Hammond Band pays tribute to jazz legend Lou Donaldson, who passed away last year at the age of 98. An influential figure in both bebop and soul jazz, Donaldson recorded countless albums as a bandleader, many for the legendary Blue Note label. His music, characterized by sophisticated improvisation and a deeply soulful, accessible sound, left an indelible mark on jazz, with collaborations that included artists like John Coltrane, Art Blakey, and Horace Parlan.
