The Lewers

The Lewers are 6-piece pop group consisting of familiar faces that have made a vital contribution to Sydney’s live circuit over the years. They thrive in great moments of counterpoint; angular guitars punctuate rich vocal harmonies and a variety of instruments synchronise in and out of each other to create an atmosphere that expresses a wide variety of different emotions. The Lewers have recorded a solid bunch of tracks that will see a release later this year titled 518A.
 
Troth are an electronic duo from Mulubinba/Newcastle. Their LP “Forget The Curse” released earlier this year on Swedish label, Mamma’s Mysteriska Jukebox sees them expanding their sparse ambient synth arrangements to include more sample and beat-driven songs and instruments such as the saxophone and acoustic guitar. Of particular note are the reverb laden vocals that evoke a lot of spirit and which complement denser, indistinguishable percussive sounds.
 
Greta Now is a solo project that ruptures conventional ideas of what club and dance music is. More often than not, the friction of objects scurrying along tarmac and asphalt on a day in the life of urban congestion and suburban sprawl are left out in favour of the environment where one goes to escape all that racket, personal and societal demons and then some. Not in the case of Greta Now’s EP Bon Bon, where contorted vocals, seething synth lines and an unrelenting pulse bring these elements to the forefront with great humour and ingenuity.
