Dub Sbass number four is here and we are thrilled to bring KAIROS KIN (LIVE) and direct to Starlight Hall alongside a diverse selection of incredible crate diggers!

This is a ticket only, all ages event, set in a a beautiful bush location, kicking off early in the day with amazing local vegetarian food available throughout.

We have 10 amazing LIVE artists plus an interactive art space for kids and adults alike.

Expect diverse dubwise sounds, global chill bass, deep tropical chunk and raggamuffin 140, all packed around an exquisitely polished live act to blow your mind and force your groove!

As always, the HEX Sound System will be in full effect with that warm bass and crispy clear choona!

KAIROS: a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action : the opportune and decisive moment.
KIN: family

Drawing on a range of genres including dub, hip-hop, dance-hall, house, electro, breaks, techno & pop, these two accomplished rappers are focused on elevated lyrics and vocal harmonies. Joining forces in 2020 Kairos Kin have brought together two powerhouse song-writers and combined their ethereal voices over bass heavy beats and grooves.

Terry Cassels aka Kazm is an indigenous Australian artist and frontman for Dubmarine 2006-2018. The Gungalu spirit-singer crosses ancient culture into the modern contemporary sphere and pushes his art toward the space age!

Marisa Lock aka Blue MC is an Australian female rapper and singer who co-fronted The Potbelleez 2004-2012. She relocated to Berlin (Germany), performing in clubs and making collaborative recordings across multiple genres from 2013-2018. Returning to her hometown of Brisbane in 2019, the discovery of her other-worldly connection with Kazm initiated the inspired collaboration that became Kairos Kin.

17 years behind the decks on a plethora of worldwide stages ranging from not just Australia and New Zealand, but South East Asia, from the south to the north of the Americas, plus a 2 year stint in Bristol UK to then return home to become one of the biggest players and introductory suppliers of the underground bass scene to FNQ by serving up something other than 4/4 genres, far ahead of its time.

Madison Smee’s taste for sounds have been influenced by her awe-inspiring experiences at bush doofs and park parties. Listening to great music in nature is something that she will forever hold closely.

Madison has played at various events throughout Meanjin and beyond - Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Outer Depths, Diffuszed Studio, Laruche, La La Land, Wonderland, Echo & Bounce to name a few.

She has supported the likes of - Neel ( Voices from the Lake / Italy), Freestylers (UK) and NuBreed (Melb). She loves playing an array of different genres and sounds, from all variations of house, techno and trance to all things garage/breaks/dnb/half time/jungle/dubstep .

INTEGER

'Integer' is the brainchild of Brisbane based producer and Dj Ashley Hanson. Renowned both nationally and globally for his drum'n'bass projects under the monicker 'Operon', Hanson has helped put Australian atmospheric drum'n'bass on the map with a solid release catalogue on labels like Fokuz, Covert Operations, as well as his own label Golden Orb Records.

The 'Integer' alias has arisen to enable this talented and versatile producer to push into new scenes and directions with a hypnotic blend of dub, downtempo and moody electronica influenced drum'n'bass

Having released two well received EP's on his own 'Golden Orb Records' label, Integer is making a name for himself both locally and abroad, and his efforts have seen him perform at key Australian festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Earth Frequency, Island Vibe Festival, Eclipse 2012 and billed alongside artists such as Alex Patterson, Ott, Banco de Gaia, Spoonbill, Sunmonx, Kingfisha and many more.

Keep Calling Me That’s love of Dub and Soundsystem culture began when they moved to Glasgow in 2019 from their home in Belfast.

One day, they visited the local reggae/dub, record and coffee shop, ‘Raggamuffin Records’. There they quickly met the likes of Decades of Dub, Hometown Soundsystem, Tom Spirals, FLeCK and many more inspiring figures. ‘I first started DJing when Phil from Decades of Dub gave me 50 tunes as payment for promoting for a Mungo’s HIFI gig, he sent me on a dubwise/roots path and I haven’t looked back since’.

Since moving to Australia in 2023, Keep Calling Me That has developed their craft for bass music being drawn to rhythm heavy dubstep with the fundamental dub/reggae origins.

Currently, Keep Calling Me That is one of the six co-hosts on 4zzz’s Brisbane Drum and Bass Show. They use the platform to help promote and share soundsystem culture and showcase music from all around the globe.

Miami Vice is the Music love child of Jonny Bundellu and friends. Born just in time for your next after party! It sounds like what you would get if ‘soul music took the future and an MPC’ around to Lee Scratch Perry's house in heaven for a nice long lunch!

Jonny's history is a bit protected and for various reasons, and good luck finding anything online- Apart from a few fat vinyls, this shit is Strictly classified except a few unreleased Gems leaked out for the music heads to stash.

People are always telling Jonny to get his shit together and put some music up on Spotify like a normal person, but for whatever his reason, he just ain’t gonna! This may all just go nowhere, but regardless the fate of Miami Vice, Mr Jonny was gifted a new and heightened ability to create unique sounding and expansive Beats, and it’s got to be celebrated for what it is.

Catch a Miami set when you can, or look forward to him popping up at your special occasion, or when you least expect, it's a beautiful thing!
