Jordan Kenny Who's Seeing Who? Album Launch

Between a chaotic city terrace home and the mysterious confines of Def Wolf Studios in Sydney’s Kurnell, Jordan Kenny’s debut album ‘Who’s Seeing Who?’ (out on the 12th of April) was carefully constructed with the aid of Jarrah Murray on bass, Tristan Kenny on drums, Daniel Antix in the control room and Jordan slinging guitars, synths, and vocals.

Jordan explores sounds evolved from heartbreaks, university classrooms, relentless gigging, dirty pub floors and grimy house parties, engraving an epitaph of his salad days. It is a window into the absorption of experiences, visual aesthetics, musical tastes, and literary influences that shaped him soon after entering the tumultuous roar of his twenties. Introducing his dotted eyed alter-ego Korosi, Jordan delves into the existential splitting of oneself, a crucial theme of the album.

Each song is placed episodically, taking the listener on a voyage through the transformation of a pureness into its roguish shadow Korosi, ending in self union within the final track ‘Sleep (Is Good)’. Jordan points at literary references such as Hesse’s ‘Steppenwolf’, Sartre’s ‘Nausea’ and Kerouac’s ‘On the Road’. The band effortlessly glide through genres including shoe gaze, electronica, indie rock, and even Latin American, which are used as tools of expression, rather than defining factors of the art.

‘Who’s Seeing Who?’ is not just to be viewed as an album about self-acceptance, but also a romance, as relationships with other people and society at large often reflect one’s entanglement with the self.

Jordan will be playing this collection of songs (in order) at Sydney’s renown Lansdowne on the 20th of April with additional band members, further capturing the album’s essence. It will be the band’s biggest show yet, a dazzling spectacle of theatricality like no other. Join Jordan and the band for a true monument, along with incredible up and coming songwriters Milly McPherson and Lili Alaska.
