The New Monos & Bandides

The Night Cat proudly presents a night of high energy, masterful and dance-worthy Latin sounds.

The New Monos and Bandides skilfully fuse Rumba, Argentinian dance, Rock, Cumbia, Hip Hop and Latin sounds on the stage of Fitzroy’s longest running house of salsa.

Celebrating 30 years, The Night Cat has championed the best of salsa, bachata and Latin dance, since 1994.

Join us for a dancefloor filling showcase, delivered by two of the most loved groups Melbourne has to offer, with DJs keeping the dancing going all night long.

The New Monos:
With their roots in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Melbourne-based band The New Monos combine inspiration from their South American heritage and diverse musical experience with the flavor of contemporary Buenos Aires, mixing Reggae, Folklore, Cumbia, Rock, Rumba, Hip-hop and Latin beats, all expressed with the passion of the Tango.

Bandides:
Rebellious, experimental and wildly unconventional, Bandides was recorded in Melbourne with Oscar Jimenez (Amaru Tribe). Featuring the single SOLO, the track includes technology, relationships, the absurd and social commentary.

Based across Melbourne, the core of Bandides is Andy Fernandez and David Von Almendra, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Together, they curate, perform and work as a collective of artists, engaging and exploring social norms with their lyrical and visual content. Their influences range from cumbia to rock, hip-hop to pop, electronic to dance, and everything beyond.

We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
