An Intimate Evening With George Maple

Australian born, New York based, magical siren George Maple returns for a special intimate performance at Low302 on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

A mystical journey of the juncture between the human realm and the divine, George will open the door to her inner world, inviting the audience to experience her first new material in three years alongside her now classic records.

George Maple is an Australian born, New York based Multidisciplinary Artist. She explores the juncture of music, cinema and live performance. George began her career as a songwriter, recording Artist and producer. She has written and produced for artists including DJ Snake, Tkay Maidza, What So Not, Flume, Goldroom, PayDay, Guy Sebastian, Hayden James, Jessica Mauboy and Flight Facilities with streams upwards of 600 million.

Her own solo work has built a grass roots following as well as reaching #2 on the Australian Itunes charts. George is a member of the Recording Academy and an alumni member of the ‘Grammy Next’ songwriting program. During her period as a recording Artist, Maple performed at international festivals Coachella, Lollapalooza and EDC Vegas, as well as Australian festivals; Field Day, Splendour in the Grass, Groovin the Moo and FOMO festival, as well as supporting Lorde on her Australian tour.

As time went on, George’s Artistry evolved and she began to explore the juncture of live music performance and cinematic narrative. Her first cinematic live show ‘Utopia’ , was a story about a Dystopian assassin who discovers her world is not exactly as it seems. The live show was an intersection of pop culture, fashion, music, dance, cinema, theater, dance and performance art.

Maple saw the opportunity to expand on this idea and explore this style of narrative driven performance on film. She created ’ a twenty four minute live performance film - the journey of two crossed lovers born into a genetically engineered society, destined to disrupt the world as they knew it. The film featured a cast of ten performers, filmed to a pre-rehearsed edit in one long shot across ten theatrical and digital environments on a multifunctional LED stage. The film premiered at Sydney Opera House in the Joan Sutherland theater and was written, directed, co-produced, designed, Art directed, scored and production designed by Maple. The film has most recently received a national ‘Gold Tripod’ award and state Gold Award from the Australian Cinematographers Society and received support from ARRI cameras and Epic Games. The film was awarded best Art film at the Los Angeles New Media Film Festival.

Alongside the cinematic medium, Maple continues to experiment in the live theater space. Most recently Maple wrote, directed and performed ‘Time,’ a unique cinematic live show for Dom Perignon, performed exclusively for their P2 launch. Time is the story of an ethereal being who longs for a world outside the ticking clock. Prior to this, she creatively directed and featured in a series of conceptual exhibited images for McLaren auto and Leica Cameras. Maple is a collaborator of luxury brand Cartier. Most recently she performed at the prestigious High Jewelry Gala Event as well as a special collaboration for the premiere of ‘Black Site’ by Australian director Sophia Banks as a part of the Australian Women's Film Festival presented by Cartier.

In the media, George has been featured as an Artist in fashion publications from Vogue, to Harper’s Bazaar, to Interview magazine from London to Indonesia to Australia. Her love of fashion and characterisation is woven throughout each layer of her practice.

Alongside her own creative vision, Maple ensures she allocates time to assist in the development of younger artists and contribute to the creative ecosystem. Most recently 2022 she was a keynote speaker and session host for the APRA Regional songwriting Sessions in Gippsland Victoria as well as the opening speaker for the Electronic Music Conference. George is in the initial stages of developing a non for profit fund for Artist Development, set to launch in 2024.
