### A timeless Schubert string quartet paired with the Melbourne premiere of an excitingly unique new work.

Following their history-making performance at the 2023 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, Affinity Quartet return to the Primrose Potter Salon for an unforgettable performance of Schubert’s String Quartet No.14 _Death and the Maiden_.

Considered a pillar of chamber music repertoire, Schubert’s hauntingly poetic work comes to life in Affinity Quartet’s final performance of 2024, with their ‘highly committed and suavely flexible’ (_The Age_) approach to music-making on full display.

To open, the Quartet present the Australian premiere of Alice Chance’s new work. The Paris-based Australian composer has written for the likes of Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring and Gondwana Choirs, and her approach to composition was described by _ABC Classic_ as ‘always slightly beautifully weird.’
