The Smith and Western Jury announce their debut album tour, Hotel Texas. The alt-country band from the leafy north of Melbourne invites you to come check in at the Hotel Texas and enjoy a night of hard-hitting country music that will fill you with heartache and happiness. The four-piece band will kick off their tour at one of Melbourne’s favorite rock and roll bars, Lulie Tavern, then head to South Australia and New South Wales. They’ll also venture out to regional Victoria for two shows, including one intimate acoustic gig.

These are lines found within the confines of the title track of their upcoming debut album, Hotel Texas. The Smith and Western Jury might be a relatively new name to your ears, but when it comes to the members themselves? It's far from their first rodeo. Lead singer Sam Lombardi has been writing and lighting up the stage since her early teens, with writing and stage credits in both Australia and the U.S. Guitarist Simon Torcasio has played in numerous punk bands around Melbourne. Supporting The Smith and Western Jury on this tour are rhythm section: drummer Aaron Barnett (formerly of The Getaway Plan & Deez Nuts) and bassist Kevin Orr (Romeo Moon). Both musicians bring extensive experience and fresh energy to the band, ensuring a live show that is not to be missed.

With some impressive shows already under their belt, the band traveled to Texas last year to record their debut album and play their first international show. Tracking drums and bass in the leafy Dandenong Ranges of Victoria, Lombardi and Torcasio then headed overseas to Floresville, Texas, to work with legendary country music producer Tommy Detamore (Jim Lauderdale, Jesse Daniel). Amid blistering Texas heat and southern hospitality, the band laid down lush electric guitar lines and dreamy, heartfelt vocals. With a little help from Detamore on soaring pedal steel and western swing pianist Floyd Domino (Asleep At The Wheel), the fiery album came to life in the Texas summer.

Hotel Texas will hit you like a rolling freight train, a collection of songs that take you through the last few years of singer Sam Lombardi’s life. From reliving the waking nightmare of lockdown and dealing with serious health issues to sharing vulnerable and honest stories of heartache, its cinematic twang and raw honesty will transport you somewhere far, far away.

With Hotel Texas set to be released on June 14, 2024, this album will be responsible for wearing down the needle on your favorite record player.
