Nungua Homowo presents an unforgettable explosive celebration of NUNGUA HOMOWO from Ghana (West Africa), supported by the vibrant energy of WASSAWUMBA.

Homowo - an annual celebration festival that commemorates the day the ancestors won victory over hunger, hooted at it and ridiculed it with songs and dancing. It is a time of giving thanks to life. This event will be celebrated in Melbourne at the same time as it is happening in Nungua, a township in Accra.  

NUNGUA HOMOWO is a high energy traditional West African live drumming and dance evening that takes you on a music journey of West Africa from the ancestral dances and music to the jazz undertones of Palm Wine songs and Ghana Highlife music.

Kicking the night off with supporting act WASSAWUMBA, a brilliantly choreographed show of traditional dance, drum and song complete with vibrant costumes and a big sound.

WALA will then fire the night even more bringing to the stage eight passionate performers, 15 powerful drums and instruments of some rarely seen or played outside of Ghana, with souring vocals, spectacular dance and colourful costumes, that keeps you dancing like there's no tomorrow.
