Stumps - Life’s Moving Past You Tour | Canberra

Genre-bending Sydney trio STUMPS announce a national tour and stirring new single ‘Life’s Moving Past You’ via Cooking Vinyl Australia, taking fans deeper down the rabbit hole with their expansive and exciting sound.

‘Life’s Moving Past You’ is quintessential STUMPS, marrying an electric beat with heartrending lyrics and melodies. It’s a step up in pace from ‘Brinawa St.’ — STUMPS’ emotive comeback single, which dropped in April — The prickly, dancefloor-ready beat stands out with its euphoric brightness, mellowed by the warm guitars and honeyed basslines, and of course, the soulful and searing charm of frontman Kyle Fisher.

The band touch on the creation of the track, “This song somewhat started as a longer-form ballad in it’s infancy, but when we brought it to the studio we wanted to give it more drive and some dance-y flavour. By changing the beat in the chorus, the song felt like it came to life in that moment. Now it feels, to us, like it brings together almost all of our sonic elements in a way we really love, which was a big goal of ours.”

This is just the beginning for STUMPS – following ‘Brinawa St.’ and ‘Life’s Moving Past You’, the indie-rock stalwarts look ahead to a bright new chapter. STUMPS will perform new music (and all the fan-favourites) on the 12 date national run they’re embarking on in July. It kicks off in Jindabyne on Saturday July 15, where STUMPS will serve as main support for a special show co-headlined by Dear Seattle and Teenage Joans. From there, STUMPS will headline a stack of gigs in Brookvale, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Wollongong, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Sydney.
