Helen Townsend & The Wayward Hearts - Take It Or Leave It Album Launch W/ Dave Johnson Band & Helen Shanahan

In a world filled with distractions, where isolation is coupled with noise that invades every corner of our lives, it’s time to break through the static and embrace something real. "Take It or Leave It" is more than an album; it's an emotional odyssey through love, heartbreak, hope, grief, celebration, honesty, and reality. It’s music that resonates with the truth of our existence and encourages us to be open, honest, and real.

This ain’t no ordinary show, with special guests joining Helen Townsend & The Wayward Hearts, making up an 11-piece band, and an amazing line up of local WA award winning artists… this is an all-out, soul-stirring musical experience. From past accolades and unforgettable performances, we head into this launch with a sense of anticipation and authenticity. Townsends new album, "Take It or Leave It," is ready to hit the road as part of a National Album Tour across WA, NSW, and VIC, bringing a mix of Americana, Blues, Folk, Pop, Soul, Country, and Roots right to your ears and hearts. This official launch, at Freo Social, in Helens hometown, on August 15th, will be the celebration of all celebrations.

Lining up to help celebrate:

Helen Shanahan (Solo) - An award-winning artist with a voice that captures the joys and sorrows of life, Helen’s contemporary folk/pop sound and heartfelt lyrics will draw you into her world. From New York to Nashville, she brings a wealth of experience and emotion to the stage. With nominations in the Western Australian Music Industry and performances alongside acclaimed artists such as Jackson Browne and Clare Bowditch, Helen adds her own brand of raw emotion to the night's lineup.

Dave Johnson Band - This troubadour delivers timeless, beautiful songs deeply rooted in country and folk, enriched with subtle electro and multicultural influences. His latest album, "Inequality Blvd," offers thought-provoking insights into societal issues and personal experiences. With nominations in both WAM Song of the Year and the International Songwriting Competition, Dave's music resonates with audiences far and wide, promising an unforgettable addition to the evening's lineup.

About Helen Townsend & The Wayward Hearts plus Special Guests - Blending country, blues, folk, and rock, Helen Townsend’s music paints a vivid picture of life’s rich tapestry. Her new album, "Take It or Leave It," features acclaimed singles like "Is This Love," "Battlefield," "Melbourne Streets," and "Baby Come Home," promising an evening of powerful storytelling and emotional resonance.

Helen has showcased her talent at the Sounds Australia showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville in both 2018 and 2022. In 2022, she released an EP with Shannon Smith in the US, which charted at number 6 on the folk charts. This performance will feature a bigger band configuration, including a horn section and special guests, making it a grand celebration of music and connection.

Over the past year, Helen has gained significant attention with four video releases and a captivating short film, further elevating her presence in the music scene. Nominated for the 2024 WAM Song of the Year for "Is This Love," Helen's impact is undeniable, and her performance promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.

This night is for those seeking genuine live music, meaningful lyrics, and a sense of community. Whether you’re an activist, creative, dancer, professional, or artist, young at heart or otherwise, come and join us. Let's connect through music and dance, celebrating the shared human experience.
